January has been a great month for the Blind Elephant Illustration Collective and for me, mainly because we currently have a great exhibition at Cultúrlann in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Due to the success of our last year exhibition in Dublin we were kindly invited by Cultúrlann – a friendly drop-in space in the heart of the Gaeltacht Quarter (Falls Road) in Belfast – to have an exhibition there. The works chosen to be featured at Cultúrlann were selected from the projects we developed in 2011, based on quotations by famous painters, poets and artists.
Our exhibition has reached out to many people including by BBC Radio Ulster, allowing some of our member such as Jessica Tobin, Austin Lysaght, Caomhán Mac Con Iomaire and myself to talk about our work. The interview will be on air TONIGHT between 7.30pm and 8.30pm (0 GMT).
We also caught the attention of TG4, a national Irish broadcaster. A couple of weeks ago Caomhán and myself were filmed and interviewed by Christian Rosenstock from TG4 for a special feature at IMEALL, TG4′s cultural show on interesting Irish cultural attractions. Imeall’s will also be broadcasted tonight at 9:30pm (0 GMT) It is possible to watch it online here. (with English subtitles)
And if you happen to be in Belfast, make sure to visit Cultúrlann up to the 23 of February 2012 so you can appreciate our work with your own eyes.
